text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Apenas algumas semanas após o lançamento da GeForce GTX 580, chega ao  mercado a nova salva da Nvidia na batalha pelo seu bolso: a GeForce GTX  570. Por R$ 999 (pelo modelo da Zotac, preço no Brasil) você poderá  sentir o gostinho da nova arquitetura Fermi que é o destaque da GTX 580,  por um preço bem mais acessível. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;A Nvidia GeForce GTX 480 passou pelo mercado sem fazer muito barulho,  o que pegou mal para a primeira tentativa da empresa no mercado de  placas compatíveis com DirectX 11. A arquitetura Fermi se provou  poderosa mas difícil de domar, resultando em um verdadeiro motor a jato  amarrado à sua mesa, que destroçava os benchmarks mas lhe tornava o  melhor amigo da companhia elétrica local rapidinho. Eles reduziram algumas características e cortaram US$ 150 do preço  final, sem sacrificar demais o desempenho. A GTX 570 tem uma velocidade  de clock um pouco menor que a 580: são 732 MHz contra 772 MHz. Também há  480 shader units (a Nvidia as chama de “CUDA Cores”) contra as 512 da  GTX 580. A arquitetura básica, chamada GF110, se mantém exatamente a  mesma.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Nos EUA, o preço de US$ 350 da GTX 570 a coloca no mesmo patamar da  AMD Radeon HD 5870, que sai por US$ 300 (novamente, preço nos EUA). Esta  placa já tem pouco mais de um ano de marcado mas ainda é um concorrente  de peso, se mantendo no topo dos comparativos por eras. Em nossos  testes, colocamos a GTX 570 contra a Radeon HD 5870 e a recém lançada  Radeon HD 6870 (US$ 240, nos EUA).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Desempenho: Unigine Heaven&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Benchmarks sintéticos geralment não são um bom indicador do  desempenho de uma GPU no mundo real, mas são um padrão aceito por toda a  indústria e nos dão uma base comum para comparar o desempenho de uma  GPU com suas concorrentes. Também são uma oportunidade para “estressar”  as placas de uma forma que os aplicativos (jogos) não conseguem, nos  dando uma boa idéia do modo de atuação de um componente.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;O primeiro teste é o benchmark Unigine Heaven, um teste sintético  para uma engine de jogo em DirectX 11. O 3DMark 11  tem um conjunto de demos de ambinete, debaixo d’água e em uma densa  floresta. Sob carga, a GTX 570  consome 345W, quase 25% mais energia sob as mesmas condições que a 5870  (277W) e pouco mais que 40% mais energia que a 6870 (246W).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Quando levando a eficiência energética geral em conta, as três placas  acabam parecendo similares. E isso ocorre especialmente se você  ainda utiliza um monitor convencional (os chamados CRT). Em primeiro lugar porque, para muitos, quanto maior melhor (você  vai ver muito mais o que está na sua tela). Claro que será necessário  garantir uma distância maior do monitor. Mas, a resolução máxima vai  aumentar e muito mais coisas caberão em sua tela. Por isso, prefira um  monitor de, no mínimo, 19 polegadas. É claro que você precisa ter um computador melhor, pois o  processamento ficará mais pesado. Entretanto, a definição da imagem vai  ser muito maior. Isso porque a imagem do game não será “ajustada”  (esticada ou encolhida) para caber na tela. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="color: black; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="color: black; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;E, além disso, você  vai aproveitar muito mais do jogo, com os elementos espalhados pela tela  mas sem atrapalhar a sua visão. Não entendeu? Imagine que você está  jogando um jogo FPS (tiro em primeira pessoa).  Há vários “painéis” pela tela, com a sua energia, armas, munição,  itens, mapa etc. Isso tudo ocupa espaço em sua tela, e a visão do  personagem em si acaba ficando limitada. O tempo de resposta é, literalmente, o  tempo que o monitor leva para mostrar a imagem do PC para você. Ele é  extremamente importante nos games, pois a movimentação é muito  constante.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="color: black; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="color: black; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Em jogos de primeira pessoa isso se torna  relativamente notável. Se você tiver um monitor de 8 ms (milissegundos) e  tentar jogar algo como Counter Strike,  verá fantasmas pela tela. Ou seja, ao movimentar seu personagem ou a  visão da câmera, ficarão rastros pela tela, como manchas. Como dito acima, em jogos mais  dinâmicos, com a movimentação um pouco mais rápida, já se vêem  fantasmas. Por isso, para que você garanta uma boa imagem sem rastros,  certifique-se de comprar um monitor com tempo de resposta de 2 ms (até  já comum).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="color: black; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="color: black; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;O contraste estático&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="color: black; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="color: black; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Imagine um jogo bastante escuro, como Doom 3 ou Silent Hill,  em que detalhes aparecem no meio das sombras. Pois então, é o contraste  de seu monitor que vai diferenciar a luz branca da luz negra. Ou seja,  controla e mostra para você como a iluminação deve ser. Quanto maior o  número, maior a diferenciação. E, quanto maior a diferenciação, mais  vibrante será a imagem. O  estático é o que falamos acima, que é real do monitor. Mas há também o  contraste dinâmico, que é uma tentativa de simular um contraste melhor.  Por isso, o importante é você se preocupar com o estático (que é o real)  — e não com o dinâmico.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="color: black; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="color: black; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Wide ou Fullscreen?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="color: black; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="color: black; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Os monitores fullscreen (os mais quadrados e comuns) dominaram os PCs  por muitos anos. Entretanto, a tendência das próprias televisões fez  com que os monitores seguissem o mesmo caminho: o de telas widescreen.  Eles são mais retangulares, pois têm a largura maior do que a altura.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="color: black; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;img alt="Full ou Widescreen? Entretanto, os novos  monitores um pouco maiores (de 22 polegadas) já vêm comumente no formato  widescreen. E, sendo assim, vários games já se preparam para o formato.  Então, o fato de o monitor ser full ou widescreen acaba sendo uma  tendência da tecnologia. Entre suas principais características          estão o menor consumo de energia elétrica, menor custo de          produção, maior largura de banda de dados e velocidades          mais rápidas. Este artigo mostrará essas e outras características,          além das diferenças entre as memórias DDR e DDR2.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;A memória DDR2&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;DDR2 é a sigla para &lt;b&gt;D&lt;/b&gt;ouble &lt;b&gt;D&lt;/b&gt;ata &lt;b&gt;R&lt;/b&gt;ate         &lt;b&gt;2&lt;/b&gt;. Trata-se de uma espécie de "substituto natural"         das memórias DDR, uma vez que, em comparação com         esta última, a tecnologia DDR2 traz diversas melhorias. Seu desenvolvimento         foi feito pela JEDEC,         um grupo criado por fabricantes para definir padrões de produtos         da indústria de semi-condutores.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Ao contrário do que alguns pensam, a memória         DDR2 não é compatível com placas-mãe que trabalham         com memória DDR. Embora os pentes de memória de ambos os         tipos pareçam iguais numa primeira olhada (pois possuem o mesmo         tamanho), na verdade, não são. Para começar, o tipo         DDR tem 184 terminais e o DDR2 conta com 240 terminais. Além disso,         aquela pequena abertura que há entre os terminais está posicionada         em um local diferente nos pentes de memória DDR2, como mostra a         imagem a seguir.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;img alt="DDR x DDR2" height="257" src="http://www.infowester.com/img_art/memddrxddr2.jpg" width="524" /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Uma outra diferença visível nos módulos         de memória DDR2 é o tipo de encapsulamento usado: o FBGA         (&lt;b&gt;F&lt;/b&gt;ine pitch &lt;b&gt;B&lt;/b&gt;all &lt;b&gt;G&lt;/b&gt;rid &lt;b&gt;A&lt;/b&gt;rray). Esse tipo é         derivado do padrão BGA e sua principal característica é         que os terminais do chip são pequenas soldas. A vantagem disso         é que o sinal elétrico flui mais facilmente e há         menos chances de danos físicos. A memória DDR usa um encapsulamento         conhecido como TSOP (&lt;b&gt;T&lt;/b&gt;hin &lt;b&gt;S&lt;/b&gt;mall &lt;b&gt;O&lt;/b&gt;utline &lt;b&gt;P&lt;/b&gt;ackage).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;img alt="Encapsulamento FBGA" height="222" src="http://www.infowester.com/img_art/menddr2_fbga.jpg" width="275" /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;A memória DDR2 também merece destaque pelo         seu menor consumo de energia elétrica. Enquanto o tipo DDR trabalha         à 2,5 V, a tecnologia DDR2 requer 1,8 V. Por causa disso, a memória         DDR2 acaba tendo melhor desempenho no controle da temperatura.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Freqüências da memória DDR2&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;img align="right" alt="Módulo de memória DDR2 da SimpleTech" height="147" src="http://www.infowester.com/img_art/memddr2.jpg" width="377" /&gt;As         memórias DDR são comumente encontradas nas freqüências         de 266 MHz, 333 MHz e 400 MHz. Por sua vez, o padrão DDR2 trabalha         com as freqüências de 400 MHz, 533 MHz, 667 MHz e 800 MHz (esses         eram os tipos existentes até o fechamento deste artigo). Na verdade,         tanto no caso da memória DDR quanto no caso da memória DDR2,         esses valores correspondem à metade. A explicação         para isso é que ambos os tipos podem realizar duas operações         por ciclo de clock. Grossamente falando, é como se a velocidade         dobrasse.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Em relação à velocidade como um todo,         é necessário também considerar o "CAS Latency"         (latência do CAS - &lt;b&gt;C&lt;/b&gt;olumn &lt;b&gt;A&lt;/b&gt;ddress &lt;b&gt;S&lt;/b&gt;trobe).         Em poucas palavras, trata-se do tempo que a memória leva para fornecer         um dado solicitado. Assim, quanto menor o valor da latência, mais         rápida é a "entrega".&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Nas memórias DDR, a latência pode ser de 2,         2,5 e 3 ciclos por clock .         Nas memórias DDR2, a latência vai de 3 a 5 ciclos de clock.         Isso significa que, nesse aspecto, a memória DDR2 é mais         lenta que a DDR? Na prática não, pois as demais características         do padrão DDR2, especialmente seus valores de freqüência,         compensam essa desvantagem.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Há ainda um recurso nas memórias DDR2 que         deve ser citado: o Additional Latency (AL) ou "latência adicional".         Esta é usada para permitir que os procedimentos ligados às         operações de leitura e escrita sejam feitos até "expirar"         o tempo da latência do CAS mais a latência adicional. É         como se houvesse um aumento do prazo para tais operações.         Assim, a medição da latência deve considerar a soma         desses dois parâmetros para se obter um total.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;On-Die Termination (ODT)&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;A memória DDR2 conta com um recurso conhecido como         On-Die Termination (ODT). Trata-se de uma tecnologia que praticamente         evita erros de transmissão de sinal. Para compreender a utilidade         disso é necessário conhecer a chamada "terminação         resistiva".&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Os sinais elétricos sofrem um efeito de retorno quando         chegam ao final de um caminho de transmissão. Grossamente falando,         é como se a energia batesse numa parede no final de seu caminho         e voltasse, como se fosse uma bola. Esse efeito também pode ocorrer         no "meio do caminho", por motivos diversos, como trechos com         impedância diferente. No caso das memórias, esse problema,         conhecido como "sinal de reflexão", pode significar perda         de desempenho e necessidade de retransmissão de dados.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Nas memórias DDR esse problema foi tratado através         de um método que reduz o sinal de reflexão por meio de resistores         que são adicionados à placa-mãe. É desse dispositivo         que vem o nome "terminação resistiva".&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;No padrão DDR2, a terminação resistiva         na placa-mãe não se mostrou eficiente, pelas características         físicas desse tipo de memória. Diante desse problema, foi         necessário estudar alternativas e então surgiu o ODT. Nessa         tecnologia, a terminação resistiva fica dentro do próprio         chip de memória. Com isso, o caminho percorrido pelo sinal é         menor e há menos ruídos, isto é, menos perda de dados.         Até a placa-mãe acaba se beneficiando dessa tecnologia,         já que um componente deixa de ser adicionado, reduzindo custos         de desenvolvimento. Trata-se de um tipo de          memória baseado na tão difundida tecnologia SDRAM.          Suas especificações foram definidas pela JEDEC,          entidade formada por empresas do ramo de semi-condutores para a formulação          de padrões nesse segmento. Este artigo mostrará as principais          características da memória DDR e o porquê de sua popularidade.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Como surgiu a memória DDR&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Na época em que o Pentium III, da Intel, era o processador mais         usado, a velocidade padrão do FSB (&lt;b&gt;F&lt;/b&gt;ront &lt;b&gt;S&lt;/b&gt;ide &lt;b&gt;B&lt;/b&gt;us)         - velocidade externa do processsador, ou seja, a velocidade na qual o         processador se comunica com a memória e com componentes da placa-mãe         - era de 133 MHz, equivalente a 1.064 MB por segundo. No entanto, sabe-se         que no geral, o chipset da placa-mãe não usa a freqüência         de FSB para se comunicar com a memória, mas sim a velocidade desta         última. Nessa época, o padrão para velocidade das         memórias também era de 133 MHz (as conhecidas memórias         SDRAM PC133), que também fornecia uma taxa de velocidade de 1.064         MB por segundo. Com isso, é possível notar que havia um         equilíbrio na velocidade de comunicação entre os         componentes do computador.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;No entanto, com o lançamento da linha Pentium 4, da Intel e Duron/Athlon         da AMD, esse "equilíbrio" deixou de existir, pois o FSB         dos processadores passou a ter mais velocidade enquanto que as memórias         continuavam no padrão PC133, mantendo a velocidade em 133 MHz.         Isso significa que o computador não conseguia aproveitar todos         os recursos de processamento. Para usuários do Pentium 4 até         havia uma alternativa: utilizar as memórias do tipo Rambus (ou         RDRAM). Esse tipo era mais rápido que as PC133, mas tinha algumas         desvantagens: só funcionava com processadores da Intel, tinha preço         muito elevado e as placas-mãe que suportavam as memórias         Rambus também eram muito caras.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;img align="right" alt="Pente de memória DDR" height="150" src="http://www.infowester.com/img_art/ddr2not.jpg" width="150" /&gt;Neste         mesmo período, as memórias DDR já haviam sido lançadas,         mas a Intel tentava popularizar as memórias Rambus, ignorando a         existência do padrão DDR. A AMD, que até então         tinha que se contentar com os limites da memória DIMM SDRAM de         168 pinos, precisava de uma alternativa eficiente de memória que         pudesse trabalhar integralmente com seus processadores. A companhia acabou         apostando nas memórias DDR e a partir daí o uso destas foi         considerado extremamente viável.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;O simples lançamento das memórias DDR não foi uma         solução imediata para os problemas de velocidade das memórias         e do FSB. Somente com o lançamento das memórias Dual DDR         é que a solução se tornou comprovadamente eficaz.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Funcionamento das memórias DDR&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;As memórias DDR funcionam de maneira parecida às memórias         DIMM SDRAM. Seus pentes (ou módulos) possuem 184 terminais, enquanto         que o padrão anterior possui 168 pinos. Fisicamente, há         apenas uma divisão no encaixe do pente (ver imagem a seguir), enquanto         que na memória DIMM há dois. Um detalhe interessante é         que a voltagem das DDR é 2.5 V, contra 3.3 V das DIMM SDRAM. Isso         diminui o consumo de energia e ameniza consideravelmente os problemas         relacionados à temperatura. Para um PC normal isso pode até         não fazer muita diferença, mas faz em um notebook, por exemplo.         Além disso, a redução da voltagem deixa a memória         mais propícia aos overclocks.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;img alt="Foto de um módulo de memória DDR" height="312" src="http://www.infowester.com/img_art/ddrnot.jpg" width="312" /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Mas o grande diferencial das memórias DDR está no fato          delas poderem realizar o dobro de operações por ciclo de          clock (em poucas palavras, a velocidade na qual o processador solicita          operações - entenda mais sobre isso aqui).          Assim, uma memória DDR de 266 MHz trabalha, na verdade, com 133          MHz. Como ela realiza duas operações por vez, é como          se trabalhasse a 266 MHz (o dobro).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Como já dito antes, as memórias DDR são muito parecidas         com as memórias DIMM de 168 pinos. Veja o porquê: os pentes         de memórias DIMM e DDR fazem uso da tecnologia SDRAM. Além         disso, ambos os tipos são divididos logicamente em bancos, onde         cada um contém uma determinada quantidade de endereços de         memória disponíveis. Cada banco, por sua vez, se divide         em combinações de linhas e colunas. Acessando uma linha         e coluna de um banco é que se acessa um endereço de memória.         Dentro de cada banco, somente um linha pode ser usada por vez, mas é         possível que haja mais de um acesso simultâneo, desde que         seja a endereços diferentes. É isso que a memória         DDR faz: basicamente acessa duas linhas, em vez de uma, não sendo         preciso mudar a estrutura da memória. Basta fazer alguns ajustes         em circuitos e claro, criar chipsets com controladores de memória         que consigam fazer acessos desse tipo.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Um fato importante a citar é que é possível acessar         mais de 2 endereços de memória, mas isso gera custos bem         maiores. Além disso, quanto maior a quantidade de dados transferidos,         maior o nível de ruído eletromagnético (o que pode         representar perda e necessidade de retransmissão de dados).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: small;"&gt;Algo que também é importante frisar é que as memórias         DIMM indicavam seu tipo informando a velocidade de seu funcionamento.         Há uma nomenclatura nas memórias DDR em que isso não         ocorre. Observe o exemplo: numa memória SDRAM PC-133, o número         "133" significa que a memória trabalha a 133 MHz. Quando         você encontra uma memória DDR PC-1600 não significa         que ela trabalha a 1600 MHz. Esse valor indica a taxa de transferência         de MB por segundo.
